On July 4th, the official fireworks were launched from barges near Pier 39 and Aquatic Park. Because that part of town gets crowded early, I decided to watch the “illegal” fireworks that erupted from the Mission and Hunters Point neighborhoods. People started lighting fireworks at twilight and continued at a furious pace for a couple of hours. Impressive to view from afar.
